"False" Traffic is when numbers on Google Analytics show that you have much more page views/visits to your website than you truly have. This is a major problem for web designers since our goal is to improve our websites using accurate numbers that fairly represent our population of interest (our readers/viewers).

"False" Traffic isn't due to the fault of Google Analytics and the data Google provides you; in fact, it is in your settings. To not include yourself in the results of your website,
- Once logged into Google Analytics, go to the Admin section.
- Under the Account section, choose the All Filters selection.
- Click the + New Filter red button.
- Enter in the name that you want to call the new filter (Filter Name), and choose to exclude traffic from your IP address, then type in your IP address. If you do not know your IP address, then Google "My IP address" and it will tell you what your IP address is.
- Type your IP address into the IP address box.
- Below is a step by step visual of where to go and what to fill in.
